OnePlus recently started rolling out its OxygenOS 4.5.7 update and finally added the ability to record videos in 4K resolution with electronic image stabilisation (EIS) on OnePlus 5. However, it appears the update has been plagued by a gaming stutter issue.

In a Reddit thread, a OnePlus community specialist has confirmed that the company has indeed withdrawn the rollout of OxygenOS 4.5.7 update as many users were reporting a bug where they were experiencing stutter issues while gaming post the update. However, the company has been said to roll out OxygenOS 4.5.8 update “ASAP” with a fix for this issue.

While some users have mentioned the stuttering issues post the OxygenOS 4.5.7 update, several others have also claimed that it has brought about improved battery life to the OnePlus 5 smartphone. To recall, several users recently reported that the bug fix update for the emergency call issue, where OnePlus 5 users faced unexpected reboots while calling helpline numbers including 911, brought along battery life issues to the smartphone. Some users even said that the smartphone was losing 20-25 percent battery even when in idle state during night time (with Doze mode switched on).

Though we have always commended OnePlus on rolling out frequent software updates, these issues should ideally have been ironed out before the update was made available for the public. We will have to wait and see how long the company takes to issue the bug fix update.

Alongside the OnePlus 5 OxgenOS 4.5.5 update, OnePlus has also rolled out an update for OnePlus 2 users as well. Before you rejoice thinking it’s an out-of-the-blue Android 7.0 update, this one brings the much waited 4G VoLTE fix for all OnePlus 2 users, and is still based on the dated Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The latest OxygenOS 3.5.9 update for OnePlus 2 users fixes an issue with 4G VoLTE reception. The 4G network option seems to disappear from phones sporadically for some users. This issue was first seen after the OxygenOS 3.5.5 update was released in December last year, which also brought along 4G VoLTE support.

OnePlus is gradually rolling out the OxygenOS 3.5.9 update via OTA to OnePlus 2 users. If you haven’t received a notification about it yet, check for the update manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > System Update on your OnePlus 2 smartphone. To recall, the OnePlus 2 OxygenOS 3.5.8 version was rolled out in March, and it was supposed to bring the VoLTE fix, but that didn’t happen.

Last month, OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will not be getting Android Nougat update, indicating that the owners of the phone will have to stay content with Android Marshmallow. This came as a bit of a surprise as it was previously claimed that the smartphone will be provided the Android Nougat update. In any case, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 are guaranteed to get the future Android O update.

As mentioned, OnePlus 5 users got the latest OxygenOS 4.5.5 update, and it brings bug fixes, performance improvements, Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, voice calling improvements, and much more.

OnePlus has been actively pushing out firmware updates for its flagship smartphones recently and now the company has announced that it has started rolling out OxygenOS 4.0.2 update for its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. Notably, the latest update from the company doesn’t bring along a host of improvements or changes to the OS.

With the OxygenOS 4.0.2 update, OnePlus has fixed the bug associated with Google Play that prevented users from downloading apps from the store. The company has mentioned it its forum post that the Wi-Fi connectivity might still fluctuate, indicating that the issue associated with the connectivity might not be completely resolved with the OxygenOS 4.0.2 update.

The OxygenOS 4.0.2 update changelog from the company shows most of the bug fixes and improvements mentioned in the previous two updates as well. These changes include new design for notifications design, new design for settings menu, Multi-Window view, Direct Reply for notifications, support for custom DPI, added Status Bar icon options, improved shelf customisation, updated APN settings for select carriers, and more.
As it happens with every other update from the company, the rollout for OxygenOS 4.0.2 update will be performed in phased manner. Several users on company’s official forum have complained that they are experiencing battery life issues on their smartphones. As the company seems to be releasing updates one after the other, it will be interesting to see how soon it will issue the fix for this particular issue.

The company started rolling out its Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS 4.0.0 update from December 31 last year and then started rolling out the version 4.0.1 update earlier this month.

OnePlus earlier this month unveiled the OnePlus 3T – an upgraded variant of its OnePlus 3 (Review) flagship. The smartphone goes on sale from Tuesday in the US in its Gunmetal colour variant, while the Soft Gold version will be launched soon. OnePlus has priced the 64GB model is priced at $439 (roughly Rs. 29,800) and the 128GB model is priced at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,500).

With the launch of the OnePlus 3T, the Chinese startup is also discontinuing the OnePlus 3 smartphone in the US as well as Europe. The continued availability of the original flagship in regions such as India is uncertain. The upgraded variant gets a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, a larger 128GB storage variant, a higher resolution 16-megapixel front camera, and a larger 3400mAh battery battery.

Apart from these differences, the OnePlus 3T is otherwise identical to the OnePlus 3. The dual-SIM smartphone bears an anodised aluminium metal unibody design, a fingerprint sensor on the home button, a Alert Slider switch, and capacitive hardware keys. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Snapdragon 821 SoC (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

As for optics, the OnePlus 3T sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX298 sensor (1.12-micron pixels), an f/2.0 aperture, OIS and EIS, and PDAF autofocus. It also bears a 16-megapixel front camera sporting a Samsung 3P8SP with 1-micron pixels, and an f/2.0 aperture.

Adding another feather to its cap, OnePlus last week launched the OnePlus 3T, which is an upgraded version of OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3T was launched with features that are a bump from the not-so-old OnePlus 3. OnePlus said at the launch event that its new smartphone will hit the shelves on November 22 in the US, November 26 in the European market, and November 28 in the UK. However, there was no announcement made for the Indian market then. Now, it seems we are soon going to witness the launch of OnePlus 3T in the country.

In a photo tweeted by OnePlus India that reads “Guess who’s coming to town?”, the company hinted at the arrival of the OnePlus 3T in India. The photo posted online bears this capitalised text – “THE BEST IS ABOUT TO GET BETTER” – with a background in a colour very similar to one of the two colour variants of OnePlus 3T i.e., Gunmetal. There is no information on whether the Soft Gold variant will come to India or not but since the Chinese company had previously said it would make the Soft Gold variant available shortly after the launch, it is unlikely to come to India initially. The information also runs short of the date and time of the OnePlus 3T launch in the country.

The Chinese mobile startup had revealed the pricing for the OnePlus 3T for the announced regions (which didn’t include India initially). The 64GB storage model has been priced at GBP 399 (roughly Rs. 33,700), EUR 439 (roughly Rs. 31,200), and $439 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the 128GB model has been priced at GBP 439 (roughly Rs. 37,100), EUR 479 (roughly Rs. 34,800), and $479 (roughly Rs. 32,500). The India launch will also spell the pricing alongside but till then we can assume it to be nearing the above mentioned INR currency equivalents.

Outlining the exact differences between the two smartphones – OnePlus 3 (Review) and OnePlus 3T, the latter has some improved features and specifications. The OnePlus 3T sports a faster quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) compared to the Snapdragon 820 SoC on the older variant. It comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage options, compared to just a 64GB variant on the OnePlus 3.
For camera, the OnePlus 3T is superior in terms of camera resolution. The OnePlus 3T has 16-megapixel cameras on both – rear and front – sides. The imaging sensor inside the cameras have also been replaced to Samsung 3P8SP with 1-micron pixels. The newer OnePlus 3T gets its juice from the larger 3400mAh battery, better than the 3000mAh battery in OnePlus 3. The Dash charging technology is included in the OnePlus 3T as well.

Other specifications are identical on both the smartphones. The design and body of the OnePlus 3T resembles OnePlus 3 with same anodised aluminium metal unibody, with the fingerprint scanner mounted on the physical home button. The proprietary Alert Slider of OnePlus 3 has been given on the OnePlus 3T as well. The OnePlus 3T also comes with the same USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The processor inside the smartphone is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

The connectivity options on the OnePlus 3T include 4G LTE (with support for India’s LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS/ A-GPS. It bears the same dimensions as the OnePlus 3 at 152.7×74.7×7.35mm with same weight at 158 grams.

These days, rumours and leaks in the tech industry are no joke. In the lead-up to most important device launch events, almost all the specifications and the hardware designs are leaked with unprecedented regularity. Maybe this is the reason why OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei quashed the rumour of a mini variant of OnePlus 3 by himself on social networking website Twitter.

Last week, a report by Phone Arena suggested that a new smartphone that had surfaced on benchmark site GFXBench with almost similar specs to the OnePlus 3 apart from the screen size may be the OnePlus 3 Mini.

Carl Pei replied on a link to the story on Twitter by saying just plain “No” followed by “#rumorshutdown”. While this might be an indication that either the listing was entirely false, could point to another Android phone by a different smartphone manufacturer, which would bear the same specifications as OnePlus 3 but in a smaller size.

According to the leak, the benchmark listing on GFXBench showed a smartphone with a 4.6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display that was powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC and an Adreno 530 GPU. The phone also features 6GB of RAM and has inbuilt storage of 64GB.

Last week the company also decided to halt sales of OnePlus 3, as it is struggling to keep up with the demand, from this Tuesday in 23 European countries for over a month, giving its inventory time to replenish.

Last month, we reported that OnePlus 3 will be getting a Soft Gold colour variant sometime late in July. Now, the company has announced that the variant will be launched in US on Tuesday and will be launched in Europe, Canada, and Hong Kong on August 1.

ha

Although the company has not revealed this variant’s launch date for India, it added that “more information on the exact launch date for India soon”

In its forum, the company said that this will not be “your typical gaudy gold smartphone” and has a rather toned-down, “light, elegant look”. OnePlus has also pointed out that the variant will only be available in limited quantities.

OnePlus 3 was launched in India last month at Rs. 27,999 and till now only Graphite colour was available for purchase. Much to the relief of consumers, the company scrapped its invite system with the release of OnePlus 3 and also said that all of its future handsets will be sold without the invite system.

The company also said that it will be focussing on its flagship series and will not be releasing a follow-up to its budget smartphone OnePlus X.

In our review of the phone, we said that after three previous attempts, OnePlus has finally managed to get everything right with the OnePlus 3 and that this is a phone which excels in almost every department. We also added that OnePlus has even fixed the reliability and build quality issues on some of company’s previous devices.

Despite no official announcement by the company, several OnePlus users had started receiving OxygenOS 3.2 update earlier this week. As it turns out, the company later stalled its Oxygen 3.2 update and has decided to now move ahead directly with OxygenOS 3.2.1 update.

ha

On Thursday, a OnePlus staff member posted on company’s official forum that the company has decided to skip OxygenOS 3.2 rollout and that the 3.2.1 update will cover all of 3.2 update’s improvements. He added that “the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 3.2.1 on the OnePlus 3” was starting from Thursday itself.

The new update will bring with itself the much requested sRGB mode, improved RAM management, and better GPS performance. It will also bring the latest Google security patches and is said to enhance audio playback quality.

The 3.2.1 update will also pack updated custom icon packs and is said to fix certain issues in Gallery. The company also claims that it will improve the camera’s quality and its functionality.

The company has also resolved some issues with SIM recognition, and problems with clock and music apps with the latest update, according to the change log posted by the staff member on the forum.

The 3.2 update was reported to be around 396MB in size. Some users who were already on 3.2.0 version have said on forum that they have received a 15MB update for 3.2.1.

Last month, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei expressed his displeasure about the criticism that OnePlus 3’s display has received, and clarified why the company didn’t initially include the sRGB mode. Ultimately, Pei had to give in to the feedback from the customers, and confirm that OnePlus would bring sRGB in the next update.

The OnePlus 3 was launched in India this week at Rs. 27,999, and at the launch, OnePlus had specified that the Soft Gold colour variant would be made available at a later date. Currently, only the Graphite colour variant is up for grabs. Now, OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei has confirmed that the Soft Gold colour variant will be available sometime in the second half of July.

ha

Pei refrained from giving a specific date, but has satiated the curious a little bit by giving a time-frame. A Twitter user tweeted at Pei asking for details on the colour variant, to which Pei replied that it would hit the markets sometime in the latter part of July.

For now, the OnePlus 3 Graphite variant can be brought from Amazon India without the invite system. OnePlus has now officially scrapped the invite system, and has announced that all the future smartphone will be sold invite free. Co-founder Pete Lau also announced recently that the company will focus on only one true flagship, and will not release a follow-up model of the OnePlus X.

OnePlus even released the source kernel code of the OnePlus 3 soon after the launch of the smartphone. The code is available for download on Github. As for the specs, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based OxygenOS, and supports dual-SIM. It features a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of inbuilt storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. Lastly, the OnePlus 3 packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery with Dash Charge, and a fingerprint sensor at the front.

The launch date for the OnePlus 3 is nearing, and the leaks are picking up pace. The latest includes live photos, GeekBench test results, and what appears to be a listing on Oppomart even before the smartphone has been launched.

ha

First up, the live photos leaked via The Malignant on Twitter resonate with what has been seen so far. The metal frame, the camera setup, and the front home button go with the leaked images we have seen earlier on certification sites. The volume button and the Alert Slider are housed on the right, while the power button is exclusive to the left. The USB port, the 3.5mm audio jack and the speaker grilles are all at the bottom.

A separate leak from GeekBench reveals decent performance scores (via Telefoonabonnement). It showed a single-core score of 2,394, and the multi-core came up to 5,635. The leaks also reveals two separate tests conducted recently, with single-core scores of 2,277 and 2,400, and multi-core scores of 5,157 and 5,516.

If these leaks weren’t enough, there’s an absolute tell-all from Oppomart. It has listed the smartphone on its site even before the launch, revealing the price and specifications. The images accompanying the device are again similar to the leaked ones so far. The price of the OnePlus 3 is listed to be $369, but it is unclear how far the price range can go. The specs listed include a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) display, and a Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with two RAM and inbuilt storage options. There is 4GB RAM/ 32GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM/ 64GB of storage options. Optics include 16-megapixel back and 8-megapixel front cameras. The listing also indicates a 3650mAh battery with fast charging, and Android Marshmallow-based OxygenOS.

The smartphone will have a fingerprint sensor at the front, and a USB Type-C port for charging. Apart from the two variants listed on top, the OnePlus 3 is also expected to come in 4GB of RAM/ 64GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM/ 32GB of storage bundles as well.

The launch will happen on June 14 at 10.00pm IST on a virtual space station, which will be live streamed through the OnePlus Android app. For the first time, OnePlus will sell its latest smartphone invite free at launch. The company is also conducting a flash sale of the OnePlus 3 in China , where it will make 1,000 units available for CNY 2,999. OnePlus asserts that this won’t be the final price, and the difference will be paid to the customers on launch day.
